This cartoon is a bit of a moral dilemma for me. Not the subject matter, but how I got to it. I work for as a freelance cartoonist for a newspaper and present 2 or 3 concepts daily for consideration by the editor. All my concepts were rejected and I ended up drawing the editorial suggestion on the theme. My dilemma is do I bow to pressure from someone whose opinion and experience I value greatly or make my life difficult and stand behind my concepts, notwithstanding my position in the hierarchy of decision making and the pressure of a looming deadline? Well, I blinked first and accepted the position of hired pen rather than that of hired intellect. Feel very ambivalent about this.
