nothing new in this world
This cartoon is a bit of a moral dilemma for me. Not the subject matter, but how I got to it. I work for as a freelance cartoonist for a newspaper and present 2 or 3 concepts daily for consideration by the editor. All my concepts were rejected and I ended up drawing the editorial suggestion on the theme. My dilemma is do I bow to pressure from someone whose opinion and experience I value greatly or make my life difficult and stand behind my concepts, notwithstanding my position in the hierarchy of decision making and the pressure of a looming deadline? Well, I blinked first and accepted the position of hired pen rather than that of hired intellect. Feel very ambivalent about this.

strange days indeed
The irony is that if the government had got their finger out, all of this nonsense would be unnecessary. Stupid sheeple being used by Malema to push his political fight for life.
Before and After
Sparring with the government is what its all about. We wait to see if he has political muscle or is has just got an overdeveloped jaw.

The bigger (crooks) they are, the harder they fall
At last, President Zuma, moves against these blatant hyenas. Just bear in mind that he was the one who appointed them in the first place!

Do as I say, not as I do
The government wants to introduce ethics as a subject in schools. Brilliant idea, obviously it will also be introduced in the ANC's political school? Ha!

oh boys
Well, our national team managed NOT to qualify for the African Cup of Nations after a song and dance (literally). Here's to happier times from last year's soccer world cup when SA had something to celebrate.

Kiddi Amin
Delusions of grandeur, or is it just a Napoleon complex. Juju, you have to earn respect, you can't inherit it. You can only inherit stupid.
Sometimes I just get speechless at the sheer incompetence, the brazen arrogance and uncaring attitude of those at the top. This is one of those moments.

slippery characters
My Xhosa speaking colleagues tell me that that the names, Nyoka and Majola, the main protagonists in the Cricket SA debacle, mean snake. Snake in the grass indeed, Mr. Majola.
