out to pasture

Every time I draw a cartoon featuring Julius Malema I wonder if it will be the last, and he always appears again. Let's see if he's out in the cold for good - although his skin is thick enough to survive any freeze. He also seems to forget that he was once at he forefront of the flock of ANCYL sheeple.

Phew just made it

Well, the boys have made it into the second round of the Afcon cup. As the host nation, it would've been a tad embarrassing to crash out but we've made it into the quarter finals. A happy nation is behind you. By the way, siyabonga is isiXhosa for "we are thankful", which happens to be the name of the player, Siyabonga Sangweni, who scored the goal that allowed us to stay at the top of our group in the competition.

Voice of the nation

Our president has gone to the World Economic Forum in Davos to try and woo investors to invest in South Africa. Maybe he's forgotten that the real voice of the nation is being heard in Zamdela township near Sasolburg where riots, looting, pillaging and general mayhem has been going on for the past few days. Final death total not confirmed yet. Our delusional government don't realise that foreign investors are likely to see this kind of thing. Third world indeed.

blind justice

Now you know why they call it darkest Africa. Mthatha High court does not have a backup generator and coupled with their rather erratic supply of electricity, the court building is often left in the dark. The local municipality has promised to look into the cause of the power outages but fails to mention the purchase of a generator!

protest action

Te best form of defence is to attack and shout louder tan the opposition. FNB is dodgy at the best of times but this is a bit of an over reaction by the ruing party. Methinks they doth protest too much!

damp squib

Well, the Afcon cup opening was held and our infamous national team graced the occasion with yet another goalless night. Despite coach Gordon Igesund's claims, the team has yet to explode into action and bang in goals. The traditional firework display of the tournament opening certainly wasn't seen on the pitch. Maybe the coach should be given a rocket!

to the point

A bit of a storm in a teacup with news media representatives up in arms about the National Press Club's choice of the rhino as newsmaker of the year. The feeling is that there were more important issues such as the Marikana Tragedy and the ongoing Nkandla scandal but ag, its all bad news anyway.

Down and out

Over 70% of the migrant miners facing retrenchment from Amplats are from the poorest areas of the Eastern Cape. That means about 10 000 miners and their dependent families will be facing unemployment and poverty. What is the Eastern Cape Government do? Tell the mining house their decision is ill-considered. How about getting your @sses into gear and create some development and employment opportunities here in the East Cape instead ? Poor miners - talk about going from one deep, dark, depressing hole to another.

left speechless !

The bizarre utterings and behaviour of our illustrious president leave me shaking my head in disbelief. He is either totally thick-skinned or totally thick or a combination of both. Banana republic of note!

Cry the beloved country

This is actually pretty scary. Funny how there were no West Cape farm protests when the ANC were in charge of the Province. Just saying. Now even the pathetic Communists are putting the boot in. Skande!

Season's greetings

End of the holiday season and nothing in the way of hard news (even politicians go on holiday) so here's a local local cartoon to get back to work with.

into the future

With the new year comes the publication of matric results. Angie Motshekga, she of education disaster denial fame, is now proclaiming the excellence of the government due to slight increases in our dismal matric marks. Pity there are no jobs for those who are shoved through with mediocre passes. Right matrics of 2012, time to fly .........or not.
