parliamentary jamming

Almost time for JZ to face off and answer all his critics. Or will he just chuckle and ignore the problems and blame apartheid? Time will tell, but the pressure is surely building.

A bad taste in my mouth

Well, this is the level of political discourse has descended to. Instead ofworking towards solving our parliamentary discord, the ANC resorts to calling Julius Malema name like cockroach and pig. Talk about levelling the playing field.

Cry, the beloved country

The sheer corruption, non accountability and greed certainly makes me want to weep.  Only our EC cadres could dream up such an obscene concept on the eve of an icon's funeral, spend R 2.5 million on the function and then botch it up so badly that the musicians were paid but didn't perform, the stage and mics were delivered to another venue and nobody turned up so the catering went to waste.  This from our tourism authority - no wonder nobody visits the Eastern Cape.

Political interference

Considering the chaotic happenings at the SONA parliamentary session last week, this image is quite appropriate I thought.

Local lunacy

Unlike most other cartoonists, I don't only get to draw national stories.  This is a very local story where a branch office of the municipality was burgled one night and a computer, perfume, clothing and some biscuits were stolen. Obviously stuff lying around the office. Well, according to the report, the staff were so traumatised by this turn of events that the office has been closed for over two weeks with no opening date in sight. Forget about inconvenienced customers, the "servants of the public" are happy to stay at home to get over their trauma, on full pay no doubt.  A small example of our wonderful local government service.

Cold cuts

Here's the real truth behind Eskom electricity load shedding. Forget about all those confusing and conflicting load shedding schedules. This is the real deal.

Picking up the trash

How do you solve the problem of municipalities that are disfunctional ?  Simply incorporate them into municipalities that are functional (sort of) and shift the burden of responsibility. Less control, more scope for corruption, less service delivery, more mismanagement, fewer taxpayers carrying a bigger load.

House of card sharks

Almost half the provincial housing budget has been skived off to pay cronies in other provinces. No wonder the poor old Eastern Cape is in the state thaty it's in.  Time for thre thieving comrades to get some new housing - in a jail cell.

talk to the chair 'cause the face don't care

The parliamentary circus continues with the ANC trying to put up barriers to protect the president in parliament.  We're all waiting for the command performance at the SONA next week. Should be quite a show.

Trouble brewing

The ongoing battle between Mlibo Qoboshiyane and Athol Trollip keeps going on and on.  Millions used to bail out the almost defunct Magwa Tea Estate project and nothing but a storm in a tea cup to show for it.  Throwing good money after bad management.

Rolling out the red carpet

For the first time in a while, parliamentary procedures have gotten interesting.  The countdown clock is ticking so we wait with interest to see how Mrs Bulldog Mbete handles the red hordes.

Good old Boys

Mad Bob has been in power for 34 years now. Surely its time for a change - by the Grace of Bob.

Et tu, Duarte !

The Bard said it best.  "The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones". Finish and klaar.
