Well, I can't win. The editors always favour a positive outlook for the cartoon but when I try and oblige, the choose the one with the critical message. Go figure.

Disgusting! The greedy ANC political pigs jostling and fighting among themselves, while disrupting a BCM council meeting, allegedly took a break to enjoy the take away food supplied by the long suffering municipality.

The story is about a municipal refuse collector who's normal salary is R6800 a month. All of a sudden he is claiming R275 000 for overtime - in one month.  I know that garbage men are meant to COLLECT, but that's just over the top, not overtime!

Not a smiling matter

Strictly local story of the municipal pool that is reportedly too acid because the powers that be have run out of soda ash to balance the ph of the water. According to the Buffalo City Aquatics club spokesman, the water can irritate swimmer's eyes and skin and affect tooth enamel.  Simple - keep your mouth shut under water.

Oh to be an ANC comrade, you can be accused of corruption, charged in court, refuse to step down and continue to cause chaos politically while not doing your job.  Eventually your political bosses get tired of your ineptitude but instead of just dumping you, they 'redeploy' you to a provincial government post, where you can continue to cause chaos (and possibly corruption) and be incompetent. Nice work if you can get it (and have no morals or ethics).

Tendora's Box

The stories are going around about the BCM municipal manager interefering with the municipal tender box concerning a R 100 million road construction tender. Once the demons are out, they never go away.

No comment

I have no words.  BCM has closed the central reference library.  This is the region that has the lowest pass rate for school leavers in the country and a struggling local university. No comment from the city manager or any other relevant municipal official.

Just so ironic that BCM makes a big splash of switching on the Festive street lights (paid for by us disgruntled ratepayers, but that's another story) at the same time as Eskom whacks us with load shedding in the lead up to the festive season. Lightness and joy ? I think not.

Dead and buried

Over the past couple of years, a number of dodgy deals have been done at BCM.  Two forensic reports were commissioned, one for a refuse bag supply tender and one for the infamous Make a Difference campaign, that aimed to spend 80% of their budget in the last few months of the financial year.  Well, the mayor let these two little documents conveniently get lost in her office for the past few years. Now, questions have been asked so what do the ANC cadres do, the vote in a closed door meeting to summarily rescind the reports so the guilty all go free. No questions asked because swift justice was denied the accused. Kleptocracy in action.

Something stinks, methinks

BCM pays R 40 million over three years to a company who hires consultants to held the metro finance department get a clean audit. (They haven't yet acchieved this miracle).  What do the incumbents do while the consultants do their work for them? Why do our erstwhile mayor (who is already embroiled in a corruption case) and municipal manager appear on the board of SACN, the entity that hires the consultants?  Now it also appears that R 14 million of the money has disappeared. Smell any rats?

Taxi troubles

Two recent cartoons that have taxis and our troubled council in common.  Both are a nuisance and we'd be better without either of them. Oh well, they can both only get better.

Down the toilet

No wonder they call our sleepy little city "Slummies". Our corrupt council and useless municipal management are getting us deeper and deeper in the $#%^$@#%!

A R 10 million taxi hire scandal, buses withdrawn from service and only six left to transport people, the never-ending chaos surrounding the Gonubie road construction.... and then there are the POTHOLES !
